ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE
Lead Oak Women and Children Foundation is a faith based non profit organization. We envision a productive society where every child is healthy and every woman is empowered. Our mission is to improve the quality of lives of the less privileged in the society by providing support to vulnerable children and empowering women to become self – reliant in a sustainable way
Objectives
  • Provision of nutritional, health and educational support to vulnerable children
  • To empower less privileged women health wise, socioeconomically and via education.
  • To contribute positively to social and community development.

WHAT WE DO
Our modus operandi is to help provide the basic needs of our participants while teaching them to continue to do so for themselves and secure the future of the next generation in the process through the following approaches:

FEED A CHILD- This project is targeted at malnourished and/or vulnerable children aged 5 years and below. They are registered to freely receive 1kg of our ‘Nutrimeal’ (specially formulated meal of corn, soya beans, and groundnuts). Throughout the project, the health status of these children are periodically monitored, evaluated and medications administered (when necessary).

EQUIP A MOTHER – On this platform, the mothers of our registered children are trained because majority are uneducated, unemployed, with little or no skills. They are engaged in 30 – 45 minutes of health education and personal development talks, every Friday when they come to pick up the Nutrimeal for their children at the project centre. They are also enrolled in skills acquisition classes to acquire skills like fashion designing, hair dressing, bead making, making of household cleaning products, catering, barbing etc.
Start – up equipment and grants are provided for them in addition to technical support and monitoring aimed at helping to grow their business.  Others who already have small scale business are provided with soft loans, business training and monitoring to grow their businesses.
We organize monthly programmes that involve free distribution of clothes, shoes, toiletries, foodstuff and household items for the mothers and their children for the duration of the project.

THE BLOSSOM PROJECT – This project ensures that every child on our program has access to basic education and is armed with the necessary information and skill set to make the right choices and fulfil their purpose in life. We do this via –
Full basic educational scholarships including one healthy meal a day at the school
A life skills training program for secondary schools for a period of one year
