TRAINING AT THE SKILL ACQUISITION CENTRE

The educational reformer Adelaide Hoodless said “Educate a boy, and you educate an individual. Educate a girl, and you educate a community.” Most of the women under our Equip a Mother program are mothers of our registered children. They are enrolled to be trained because a majority of them are uneducated, unemployed, with nominal skills. Once registered, they are engaged in weekly seminars for about 30 – 45 minutes on health education and personal development.

The seminars are mandatory for receiving the Nutrimeal formula, and the mothers are further required to attend skill acquisition classes to acquire and develop skills in the areas of fashion, hair styling, jewelry making, manufacture of household cleaning products, catering, etc

We partner with Christian Women Fellowship International (CWFI), Church of God Mission International. Ten of the women that were registered on our program were given scholarship in their skill acquisition centre to acquire skills like hair dressing, fashion designing, catering, bead making etc. They provided some form of transportation which was augmented by the Foundation; they also provided a crèche and a child minder for their younger children (0 -1 year) at no cost to the participants. We also arranged for them (the women) to be given menial jobs at the skill acquisition centre for which a monthly stipend will be provided by our Foundation.
